2023 Spring Dance Concert ProgramSpring Dance Concert

The St. Petersburg Ballet Company presents their annual Spring Dance Concert on Saturday, May 6th and Sunday, May 7th, 2023 at The Palladium Theater.

In this show you will see the first release of brand-new choreography by Michelle Kuusela, Marsha Wilson, & Suzanne Pomerantzeff, exploring the beauty of friendship and love. These heart-touching pieces are mesmerizing incarnations of emotions that dance can capture in art form. Our concert features everything from contemporary ensembles and pas de deux, to classical works. We will also present the “Dream Scene” from Don Quixote, a ballet featuring a beautiful musical score, a corps de ballet, and three whimsical variations. This is a performance enjoyable by all, with something for the child-like wonder, the music enthusiast, and the lover of dance.

When I Think of You Kiri

Music: Michael W. Smith    Choreography: Suzanne B. Pomerantzeff

Ana Verano, Lyla Notchick, Gwen Connors, Raegan Rooth, Paloma Ruan, Ruthie Hernandez

Dedication: On June 11, 2022, Kiri Rowe Hawthorne’s voice was silenced. It was much too soon for her Mother, Sharon Davis, her husband Dan Hawthorne, her classmates and teachers from PCCA, her dancer friends at the Academy of Ballet Arts and me, her forever teacher and creative soulmate. Kiri explored every pathway in her daily life as an artist. She danced from the age of two, she sang since she could talk, she was a hilarious Sonya, the Duck from Peter and the Wolf, she tumbled as a buffoon in Nutcracker, performed Trepak at innumerable Folk Fairs and she explored big inflated balls and how they could dance on their own...she flew with rhythm sticks and spent many hours learning how to dance with hoops...she loved puppies, flowers, rolling down the hills, photography and exploring her world. When you see this piece of choreography remember Kiri...I shall always have her in my heart.
