Jillian Kuusela has been dancing at the Academy of Ballet Arts straight out of the womb. (Or 15 years). She is a senior in high school and a part of St. Pete High’s International Baccalaureate Program. When she isn’t dancing or studying she likes to help with costumes, read, and draw. In past Nutcracker shows she has performed the roles of Clara, Arabian, Snow Queen, Sugar Rose, and her childhood dream of Mouse King. Of course, dancing the Sugar Plum Fairy this year is a true, grown-up dream, and she feels so grateful to have the opportunity to perform such a beautiful part with such a lovely cast.

She would like to say thank you to her teachers and her partner for helping her grow as a dancer, and their patience. And thank you to her wonderful family and friends, for always supporting her. She wants everyone to know that she is so proud of all of the dancers, and thankful for all of the teachers, boys, costume designers, marketers… everyone that has been so dedicated to making this show happen. She is beyond excited to get to perform this year. And while she is sad to not have the experience of performing this magical show next year, she says she will always be here to watch, and help with eyeliner and quick-changes. Thank you to whomever is reading this for coming to watch our show!!
